Iranian President Condemns UN Security Council’s New Resolution

Azerbaijan, Baku, 6 March /corr. Trend D.Khatinoglu / The President of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, described the UN Security Council's new resolution regarding Iran's nuclear program as groundless. "We consider this resolution to be groundless from a legal and technical point of view," Ahmadinejad said.

On 3 March the UN Security Council passed the third Resolution with regards to Iran's nuclear program. The vast majority of permanent and non-permanent members of the Security Council voted for the adoption of the Resolution. Only Indonesia took a neutral position.

"The nuclear theme of Iran transformed into a political issue and generally has no connections with the Iranian people. The countries that brought this theme to the agenda are against the development of our people," the Iranian people said.

Ahmadinejad said that in reality, the UN Security Council is a tool in the hands of certain forces, a source at Iran's Embassy to Azerbaijan reported to Trend on 6 March.

The President once again said that the nuclear dossier of Iran is close. "The suspicions with regards to Iran's nuclear plans were made clear, and the IAEA report officially highlighted the cessation of all accusations," he added.

The UN Security Council requires Iran to stop uranium enrichment and already passed the third resolution. It will impose a ban on foreign visits by 18 officials and economic relations with 13 companies. In addition, the Resolution contains challenges to international companies to become more attentive in economic relations with the Iranian banks 'Melli' and 'Saderat'.
