Four Men Punished in Zahidan City of Iran

The four men punished in Zahidan city of Iran, located in the province of Sistan and Balujistan, was charged with drug smuggling. The punishment sentence was issued by the court of Zahidan, according to the press service of the Prosecutor Office of Sistan and Balujistan.

The sentence was fulfilled in the prison of Zahidan city on 20 October morning.

The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution to cancel punishments in September 2007.

In January 2008, minister of justice of Iran Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashimi Shahrudi forbade public punishment. However, at that time, Hashimi said "exception is possible in case of a social need".
