Spanish Foreign Minister and EU Chairman Miguel Angel Moratinos' visit to Baku highlights Azerbaijan's significance to the European Union, EU Ambassador to Azerbaijan Roland Kobia told journalists on Monday at a meeting in the Caspian-European Integration Business Club.
Moratinos is coming to Azerbaijan on 2-3, March in the framework of regional visit to all South Caucasus states. This is his first visit to the region as the head of Spanish Presidency in the EU.
"This is a very strong signal that the Presidency of the European Union is sending to Azerbaijan. It means Azerbaijan is very much on the map of the European Union, it is very important", - said Kobia.
According to the Ambassador, Moratinos is heading a big delegation.
"We consider this as an extremely useful initiative of the Spanish Presidency coming to Baku in order to have high level meeting with different authorities, notably with the President, the Foreign Minister and other officials", Kobia added.
According to him, the visit of Moratinos to Baku is a balanced visit in terms of the region, because the minister will spend in Azerbaijan as much time as in the three countries.
Minister will be accompanied by representatives of the European Commission and a big team of specialists.
"I think that the number and the composition of the delegation really reflect the interest the Spanish Presidency for the EU is attaching to Azerbaijan", Kobia said
