Special Forces Corporal Soso Zhvania was seriously wounded by a stray bullet during training exercises at a military firing range in Gonio.
The military serviceman was taken to a hospital in Batumi. He underwent an operation, but later died, the Georgian Defense Ministry told Trend .
The body of the deceased was transported to Zugdidi, where his family lives.
Military police are investigating the incident. One soldier has been detained.
The ministry expresses its condolences to the family of the deceased.
