Speaking about of the CIS Film Festival held in Ashgabat these days, famous film director Stanislav Govorukhin, said that he takes this fact with great enthusiasm, as another step towards friendship and understanding between peoples, Russian People's Artist said in an interview with Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper. International Film Forum "Cinema: open borders" was organized by the Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation of CIS member-states.
The recent works by filmmakers from Russia, Belarus and Ukraine were presented in Ashgabat. "Let this film festival will be of mutual interest and our meeting will enrich the filmmakers of Turkmenistan and Russia", Govorukhin said.
Turkmenistan has old cinematographic traditions. 'Turkmenfilm' cinema studio was established in 1926. During the war the Kiev cinema studio named after Dovzhenko was evacuated to Ashgabat. "Far Bride" by Mark Donskoy," Thirteen" by Mikhail Romm and others were created during this period.
"Neutral Turkmenistan" calls producer Alty Karliyev the founder of the national cinema. His famous works includes the epic novel "Decisive step" by Berdy Kerbabayev.
