Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov and deputy chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, foreign minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov discussed creation of favorable conditions for development of cooperation in energy, transport and humanitarian spheres, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told Trend.

The two foreign ministers met within the framework of their participation in the 71st Regular Session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

The sides exchanged views on prospects of bilateral cooperation at the meeting.

The ministers noted the importance of cooperation in Azerbaijan-Turkmenistan-Turkey format, which introduces a significant contribution to the development of relations.

The ministers also discussed the agendas of the forthcoming meeting of foreign and energy ministers in this format.

The last meeting of foreign ministers of Azerbaijan, Turkey and Turkmenistan was held in Antalya, Turkey in 2015.

At this third meeting of foreign ministers last year, the sides expressed satisfaction with the relations and development of cooperation among the countries, and also expressed hope for the development of specific projects implemented within the framework of cooperation of the countries.
