Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov will take part in the 43rd Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry told Trend Oct. 14.

The session of the council will be held October 18-19 in Tashkent under the slogan “Education and Enlightenment: The Path to Peace and Creativity.”

Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov is planned to give speech at the session and to hold bilateral meetings.

During the 43rd Session of Council of Foreign Ministers of the OIC in Tashkent, it is planned to approve more than 100 resolutions, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said earlier.

The Tashkent Declaration, which will reflect the political, economic, cultural and humanitarian issues on the agenda of the OIC, as well as the priorities of the upcoming presidency of Uzbekistan in the organization, should become the main final document.

The OIC was established in September of 1969 to ensure Islamic solidarity in social, economic and political spheres. The organization has 57 member states.

Uzbekistan became an OIC member in 1996.

A decision on Uzbekistan’s chairmanship in the organization in 2016 was made at a meeting of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers in Kuwait in May 2015.
