Azerbaijan, Baku/ Trend , corr. K. Zarbaliyeva/ Nazim Alakbarov, the Deputy Azerbaijan's Justice Minister, Chief of Azerbaijan Penitentiary Service, has told Trend that a tender is expected to be announced on the construction of a prison of a close type as soon as the design estimates of this prison, which is expected to be constructed soon, are prepared .
He said that a land in had already allotted for the construction of the new prison in the Settlement of Umbaki. Two million AZN have already alloted form the State Budget for the preparation of the design estimates and initial construction activities.
The Deputy Minister said that the rumours concerning the fact that the place, where the new prison was to be installed, would create serious harm to the health of those who will sit their sentences, and that the prisoners would suffer from different infections diseases is fuly ungrounded. He noted that distance between the territory, where the new priosn was to be constructed, and the patient care institution for suffering from leprosy is about 15-20 km. Not far from the land, chosen for the prison, lands for population have been allotted, and some of the people have alreday resided there.
According to UNESCO, the Gobustan Close-Type Prison will be moved, since its correctional institution is situated on the territory of the Gobustan Reserve. The new prison will meet the European standards.
A special corpus for those who will sit their life imprisonment is expected to be constructed in the new prison as well.
