Three Turkish Citizens Involved in Incident on Border Checkpoint Detained

Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr E. Huseynli / Azerbaijani Interior Ministry reported on 28 April that the Turkish citizens Uzeir Gezer, Sami Gezer, and Kemal Ozdemir, who injured 2 officers of the Azerbaijani State Border Service at the "Shikhli" border checkpoint of Kazakh region, had been detained.

Turkish citizens were detained by the Interior Ministry agency due to violation of visa procedures and transmitted to the checkpoint for withdrawal from Azerbaijan. They did not fulfil the requirements of the frontier guards and rendered resistance to two of them. As a result the guards received knife injures and were delivered to the Kazakh city hospital afterwards.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted in the Kazakh Region Police Department.

Kazakh region is situated 510km west far away from Baku.
