CBA mentions positive tendency of operations' growth through national payment systems

Azerbaijan showed positive growth in the number and amount of payments through payment systems in 2009, the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) reported in its Financial Stability Report 2009.

6.7 million operations in a volume of 78.31 billion manat were carried out through the national payment system in 2009, which is 179 percent and accordingly two percent higher than the same period of 2008.

93 percent of the total volume of cashless payments and 5.9 percent of their number (393,000 operations in the amount of 72.9 million manat) was carried out by the national inter-bank payment system (AZİPS).

94.1 percent of the total number of cashless payment and 6.97 percent of their volume (6.3 million operations in a volume of 5.46 billion manat) came to the clearing settlement system for small payments (XÖKS).
