$1 billion Georgian tourism boost expected in 2012

Around 2.8 million foreign visitors arrived in Georgia in 2011. The income obtained from tourism amounted to $725 million.
According to the forecasts, Georgia will receive $1 billion in tourism in 2012; this statement was made at the presentation 'Models of Georgia's tourist destination' in Bakuriani. This is an EU tourism project supported by the Council of Europe.
Hotel owners in the Borjomi municipality, representatives of tourist information centres and other organisations associated with tourism were invited to the presentation.
