Iran is the greatest garden product producer in the Middle East and North Africa, and ranks eighth or nineth in the world, Agricultural Ministry official Jihad Rahmatollah Parichehr said on Monday, Fars reported.
Iran exported over 2.17 million dollars worth of fruits in the previous calendar year, which ended March 19, Parichehr said.
The fruit exports' value is expected to rise in the current calendar year compared to previous year.
"Iran also products 17 tons of garden products previous year, which is expect to rise by at least one ton this year," Parichehr added.
Iran has been ranked between 8th and 10th in global fruit production in different years.
In the productions of pomegranates and pistachios Iran ranks first, in dates and cherries, 3rd, 4th in the production of apples and walnuts, and, 7th in producing citrus fruits. Iran ranks 1st in Middle East garden products output
