World Bank Project tender announced in Azerbaijan

The Social Fund for the Development of Internally Displaced Persons in Azerbaijan has announced a tender for the repair of three hostels within the framework of a World Bank project to improve living conditions and incomes of IDPs in the country, the fund's report published in the official press said on Friday.

The repair of the following hostels is provided within the tender: Sumgayit city, 42nd block, hostel No. 16; Baku city, Binagadi district, Darnagul settlement, hostel No.1 of the Azerbaijani State Pedagogical University; hostel located in Baku city, Binagadi district, Bilajari settlement, T.Yagubov street.

Bids should be submitted until 16:00, August 25. The opening of bids will be carried out at the same time.

The tender is a part of the third project for the improving well-being of displaced persons in Azerbaijan. The project was approved in 2011 and is financed with the resources of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD is included into WB's group). The share of government participation in the project is $28.5 million, and the World Bank's share is $50 million.

Thus, the total financing of the project is $ 78.5 million. The agreement on the loan was signed on 16 November 2011.

About 200 micro-projects covering 120-150 thousand people will be implemented within the framework of the project. The project will also contribute to improving living conditions for 30,000 people. About 15,000 young people will be able to get professional education and obtain grants to start their own businesses.

Under the project, nearly 185,000 IDPs in Azerbaijan will have greater access to infrastructure and services and will be able to improve their living conditions and earning potential.
