Some 95 percent of fuel used by Iranian power plants since the beginning of this Iranian year (started on March 21, 2018) accounted for natural gas, Mehr News Agency cited Director General of the Technical Support Department of Iran's Electricity Generation Company Gulamrza Mehrdad as saying.

He added that since the beginning of this Iranian year, the volume of gas supplied to the electric power stations increased by 5.3 percent.

Diesel consumption decreased by 6 percent, while mazut consumption by about 22 percent during the reporting period, Mehrdad said.

He said that before air temperature decreased in autumn, 5 million liters accounted for consumption of diesel and mazut at electric power stations.

The electric power stations have been provided with 20 million liters of mazut, 25 million liters of diesel and about 110 million liters of natural gas, he said.
