Azerbaijan intends to learn from the experience of a number of European countries and some CIS countries in the promotion of startups in the agriculture sector, Adviser to Azerbaijan’s Minister of Agriculture for Innovations Shabnam Mammadova told Trend.

She said that for this purpose, creation of an incubation practice in the agriculture sector of Azerbaijan is envisaged.

“Business discussions have started with experts from France, Ukraine, where this area is actively practiced,” she said. “We have attracted leading agriculture experts to these discussions, and next year we plan to begin elaboration and implementation of the experience of these countries in districts.”

Mammadova said it is expected that the incubation practice will extend to all Azerbaijani districts and will cover all farmers.

“We want to attract young entrepreneurs to active participation in creation of startups and we plan to open an incubation center in the future, which will deal with issues in the agriculture industry,” she noted.
