In 2018, the number of field tax audits in Azerbaijan decreased threefold compared to 2017, the Deputy Tax Minister Sahib Alakbarov said at a press conference on changes in tax legislation, which will come into force in 2019, Trend reports.
"During 2018, 1,400 field tax audits were conducted. This means one audit for every 300 taxpayers," he said.
A moratorium on business inspections is in effect in Azerbaijan until January 2021, but they do not apply to tax audits of companies with annual turnover exceeding 120,000 manats. Moreover, the moratorium also does not affect time-restricted checks and a number of other types of tax audits, which are conducted in companies with an annual turnover of less than 120,000 manats.
