Nearly 40 percent of small active businesses in Kazakhstan operate in Almaty and Nur-Sultan, Trend reports via Finprom.kz.
The number of registered small companies in Kazakhstan increased by 4.3 percent year-on-year and amounted to 426,400 at the end of February. Over 277,000 of them are operating, which is 9.1 percent more than in February 2018.
More than 56 percent, 156,400 of the existing small companies are active. The growth for the year is 13 percent.
The largest number of active small companies operate in the field of trade and repair of cars and motorcycles: 37,100, an increase of 16 percent year-on-year. This accounts for 23.7 percent of all small active businesses.
The construction industry is second with 15,900 active small companies; the year-on-year growth is 26.2 percent. Moreover, 15,100 active small companies work in the field of education; an increase of 6.1 percent for the year.
In the regional context, the largest number of small active companies in Kazakhstan operate in the city of Almaty - 36,600. This figure is 14.8 percent higher than in February 2018.
Nur-Sultan ranks second, where their number increased by 40.4 percent year-on-year, to 24,800. In the Karaganda region, the number of small active companies amounted to 10,400, which is 1.6 percent less year-on-year.
