180 tons of rapeseeds harvested in Iran’s Sistan and Baluchestan Province

As many as 180 tons of rapeseeds have been harvested so far from 150 hectares in Iran’s Sistan and Baluchestan Province, said deputy director of the Agriculture Department in Sistan and Baluchestan Province Alireza Dahmardeh, Trend reports via IRNA.

He said that rapeseeds were planted on 655 hectares in Sistan and Baluchestan Province this Iranian year (started March 21, 2019).

Harvest of rapeseeds in the province starts in late March and lasts about two months, he noted.

An average of 1.2 tons of rapeseeds is harvested from each hectare in the province, he said, forecasting that 780 tons of rapeseeds will be harvested this Iranian year.

“This Iranian year, 1 kilogram of rapeseeds is purchased from farmers at 34,300 rials (about $0.81),” he said.

This crop is mainly planted in the Delegan, Iranshahr, Sarbaz and Khash districts of Iran.

He added that 200 farmers are involved in the cultivation of this crop.
