Azerbaijan’s Bina Agro LLC, engaged in growing greenhouse vegetables, has significantly increased tomato production volumes, the company’s spokesperson Nazrin Hajiyeva told Trend.
She noted that last year tomato production increased by 62 percent compared to 2017.
“In fact, 80 percent of our products account for tomatoes,” she said. “In 2018, the production of this type of greenhouse products reached 18,750 tons, and in 2019 we intend to increase this figure to 20,000 tons. The company annually increases the production of tomatoes, so by 2020 we intend to increase this figure to 40,000 tons.”
She added that the greenhouse complex is located on 75 hectares of land, and by 2020 the company plans to increase this area to 110 hectares.
“By the same date, we are going to open new jobs and bring the number of working personnel to 1,150 people,” she said.
Bina Agro LLC started operation in 2011 with the construction of greenhouses covering an area of six hectares.
The company has a GlobalGap certificate confirming that the product was obtained while complying with the requirements for agricultural product safety standards, as well as the HACCP certificate that guarantees the quality and safety of the manufactured product, and give right to export products to the markets of Europe, the US and Canada.
