Transit of goods through Iran’s Lengeh port increases

The transit of cars through Lengeh port of Iran’s southern Hormozgan province increased by three percent from March 21 through December 21 of this Iranian year (began on March 21, 2019) compared to the same period of 2018, director of Lengeh port Qasim Asqari Nasab said, Trend reports referring to the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization.

“Over 108,000 vehicles were transited during the reporting period,” the director of the port said. “During the reporting period, 5.4 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at Lengeh port and nearest ports.”

"Some 1.5million of 5.4 million tons account for non-oil items, which is an increase of four percent," Nasab said. “Some 3.9 million tons of oil products were transported through Lengeh port.”

“In the nine months, 2.1 million tons of oil products were exported via the ports in the western part of Hormozgan province,” the director of the port said.

“During the reporting period, 10,100 ships moored to the ports in the western pat of Hormozgan province,” Nasab said. “Some 827 of ships can carry more than 1,000 tons, while 9,560 ships - less than 1,000 tons.”

The director of the port added that more than 409,000 passengers and tourists were transported to the Persian Gulf islands through Lengeh, Aftab and Charak ports during the reporting period.

“Over 22,000 people were transported abroad during the reporting period,” Nasab said.
