Uzbekistan's Karakalpakstan significantly cuts imports

Uzbekistan's Karakalpakstan Autonomous Republic exported $168.7 million worth of goods in the first half of 2020, Trend reports citing Uzbekistan National News Agency.

The basis of exports are plastic products (polyethylene), yarn, threads, soda ash and other goods.

In the first half of 2020, Karakalpakstan Autonomous Republic imported $72.6 million worth of goods. Compared to the first half of 2019, the import of goods decreased by $62.3 million, or 46.2 percent.

Products from the Karakalpakstan Republic are mainly exported to countries such as China, Russia, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Bangladesh, Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Ukraine.

In the first half of 2020, more than 107 billion soum ($10.4 million) of customs payments from the Republic of Karakalpakstan went to the state budget of Uzbekistan.

In accordance with the relevant legislation, customs privileges in the amount of 132.4 billion soum ($12.9 million) were applied.
