Georgian dried fruits producer becomes partner of Nestlé

A Georgian producer of dried fruits - 'Gemuani' - has become a supplier and partner of the Swiss multinational corporation Nestlé, Trend reports via Georgian media.

According to the company founder Nona Tordia, Gemuani corresponds to all the parameters that is a prerequisite for cooperation with Nestlé, in particular, it received the IFS quality certificate, which is one of the most prestigious ones in the food industry.

The Swiss company has carried out an audit of the company, after which it was agreed that it will provide Nestlé's Russian branch with some ingredients.

“This is a great success for us - now we are listed in the head office of Nestlé as a partner company and despite we will mainly work with a Russian branch we can receive an order from Nestlé branch in any other country," Tordia explains.

Tordia said the company purchases products from local peasants and farmers.

The company works in two directions - the dried fruits production mainly for the Georgian market. Gemuani produces 30 types of products that are sold in the country’s trade networks.

The second direction is the production of ingredients for customers, including foreign ones.

“We cooperate with tea producers who use our products as an additive as well as with chocolate manufacturers and the hotel sector,” Tordia notes.

The company was established in 2011 and owns 100 hectares of land where fruits and vegetables are grown for further processing.
