Production of sponge iron in the first seven months of the current Iranian year (started on March 20) increased by 10 percent compared to the same period last year to 18.12 million tons, of which 25.1 percent have been done by Mobarakeh Steel Co,.
Based on statistical figures published by the Steel and Iron production companies, in October the amount of sponge iron production has been reached 2.5 million tons, which is 19 percent more than the same period last year, Trend reports citing IRNA.
The relevant data on the production of hot briquetted iron of Saba Steel Co. in the first seven months of the current Iranian year (started on March 20) with a growth of 67 percent shows the highest efficiency.
According to the statistics, the production of iron ore pellets reached 26.8 million tons during the first 7 months of the current Iranian year (started on March 20), which means a growth of 10 percent compared to the same period last year.
Mobarakeh Steel Co., Khuzestan Co., Mid Co., Khorasan Co., Gol Gohar Co., Sangan C., Tose Faragir Industrial and Mining Co., and Saba Noor Co. produced 3.9 million tons of iron ore pellets in October, which shows an increase of 18 percent compared to October last year.
According to IRNA, the Iranian Steel Producers Association announced that the apparent consumption of sponge iron last year amounted to 26.9 million tons.
