Iran enlarges apple exports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Jan. 10

Iran's apple exports increased by 60 percent in terms of value and 34 percent in terms of volume, during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 20 through December 20, 2020), compared to the same period last Iranian year, said an official of Iranian Ministry of Agriculture Jihad, Zorar Permeh, Trend reports citing the ministry.

According to him, 403,000 tons of apples worth $764 million were exported within 9 months.

The official added that while in the same period last Iranian year, Iran exported 300,000 tons of products worth $460 million.

Permeh noted that Iran's apple exports to Iraq increased from 144,000 tons to 200,000 tons, and to Russia from 5,000 tons to 97,000 tons.

“Furthermore, Iran's apple exports to Afghanistan decreased from 78,000 tons to 42,000 tons, while to the United Arab Emirates increased from 22,000 tons to 26,000 tons,” he said.

The official stressed that Iran’s apples were also exported to India, Kazakhstan, Oman, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Qatar.
