BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 17. Iran's imports from neighboring countries amounted to 16.4 million tons worth over $21 billion, from the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022) to December 31, 2022, a member of the international and foreign trade committee of the House of Industry, Mine and Trade of Iran Rouhollah Latifi said on social media, Trend reports.

According to him, 48 percent of Iran's total imports in value and 58 percent in volume for the reporting period accounted for neighboring countries.

Latifi said that in total, Iran imported 28.2 million tons of non-oil products worth $44.3 billion during March 21, 2022 to December 31, 2022.

The official added that Iran imported goods worth $13.6 billion from the UAE, worth $4.63 billion from Türkiye, worth $1.1 billion from Russia, worth $681 million from Pakistan, and worth $596 million from Oman within the mentioned period.

“Furthermore, Iran imported goods worth $166 million from Iraq, worth $110 million from Kazakhstan, worth $53.1 million from Qatar, worth $26.4 million from Azerbaijan, worth $22.2 million from Afghanistan, worth $21 million from Turkmenistan, worth $9.6 million from Kuwait, worth $2.3 million from Bahrain and worth $9.9 million from other countries,” he noted.

Latifi also pointed out that Iran's overall non-oil trade turnover with neighboring countries for the reporting period amounted to more than 78.3 million tons worth $46.1 billion.
