BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 9. Generally, over 14.5 million tons of animal feed worth about $5.93 billion were imported to Iran, during the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through January 20, 2023), Trend reports via the statistics of Iran Feed Grain Importers Union.

According to the statistics, there is no change in the value of Iran’s animal feed imports for 10 months, but there is a 17-percent decrease in volume compared to the same period of last Iranian year.

So, about 12.1 million tons of animal feed worth about $5.93 billion were imported to the country in the same period last Iranian year.

Within 10 months, Iran imported 7.65 million tons of corn feed worth more than $2.63 billion, which is an increase of 8 percent in value, while a decrease of 8 percent in volume compared to the same period last Iranian year.

At the same time, Iran has imported about 2.8 million tons of barley feed worth about $827 million for the reporting period. This is a decrease of 4 percent in value and 33 percent in volume compared to the same period last Iranian year.

Furthermore, 2.08 million tons of compressed soybeans worth about $1.15 billion were imported to the country in 10 months, which means a 39-percent decrease in value and a 47-percent decrease in volume compared to the same period last Iranian year.

Iran also imported 2.01 million tons of soybean seed as animal feed worth $1.32 billion over the mentioned period, which is an increase of 21 percent in value and 2 percent in volume compared to the same period last Iranian year.

In total, Iran imported 31 million tons of goods worth $48.5 billion within the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through January 20, 2023).

This is an increase of 16.8 percent in value, while a decrease of 6 percent in volume compared to the same period last Iranian year.

Iran mainly imported essential products, including corn, rice, soybeans, wheat, sunflower oil, barley, compressed soybeans and etc. during the reporting period.
