The representatives of such French companies as Total and Thales arriving in Ashgabat this week within the governmental delegation expressed interest in realization of the projects in fuel-energy complex of Turkmenistan, the official Turkmen source said.
The French Secretary of State for Foreign Trade Anne-Marie Idrac accompanied the businessmen. One of these days the Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Anne-Marie Idrac saying that Turkmenistan regards France as important business partner. Old close relations connect two countries and cooperation greatly develops.
The French delegation was received in all organizations of Turkmen fuel-energy complex. Total is the fourth biggest oil and gas world company operating in over 40 world countries. It stressed its readiness to operate on Turkmen market in tandem with multiphase concern Buig - Ashgabat's old partner. Total cost of Buig's construction contracts reached $2 billion in Turkmenistan.
Ashgabat suggested Total to consider an opportunity to participate in geological prospecting and development of hydro carbonate resources in the Turkmen part of the Caspian Sea. Approximately 30 offshore blocks requiring significant investments because of great depths are submitted on the international tender. According to the Turkmen estimations, approximately 11 billion tons of oil and 5.5 trillion cubic meters of gas are concentrated in this region. BP, Chevron and Itera think over cooperation in the Turkmen part of the Caspian Sea. Only Dragon Oil Ltd (UAE-Great Britain) deals with extraction in this region, the rest companies deal with exploration, including Maersk Oil, ONGG Mittal Energy Ltd (India) and Burried Hill, Wintershall Holding AG , Maersk Oil.
Multiphase Thales company also stressed about its readiness to deliver its opportunities and experience in control over reliability of pipeline system, mainly, gas pipelines. This company operates in Turkmenistan since 1990. It equipped the airports with modern flight control system in big towns of the country.
