The share of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in employment in Azerbaijan last year was 76 percent, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Economy Minister Niyazi Safarov said, Trend reports.
He made the remarks at a presentation in Baku dedicated to the Houses of SMEs May 1.
He noted that in recent years, comprehensive work has been carried out in Azerbaijan for the development of SMEs. In particular, inspections of business entities have been suspended and the process of obtaining licenses has been simplified, he said.
“So far, entrepreneurs have received more than 7,400 licenses,” he noted. “The process of issuing licenses has become available online, and to this day about 940 licenses have been issued online.”
Safarov added that the amount of fees for obtaining licenses in Baku was reduced by half, and in the regions - four times.
