Russia's Gazprombank keen to invest in oil and gas sector of Uzbekistan

Russia's Gazprombank is ready to invest in the development of “Mustaqillikning 25 yilligi” (25 years of independence) gas field, after it builds a gas chemical complex in Surxondaryo Region, Trend reports via Uzbek media.

Gazprombank expressed interest in the project at a meeting with the Uzbek Energy Ministry.

Uzbek Deputy Energy Minister Umidjan Israilov and Uzbekneftegaz chairman Mehriddin Abdullayev met with Gazprombank's delegation led by deputy chairman of the board Alexey Matveev.

Representatives of the bank actively work in oil and gas sector of Uzbekistan, having invested a total of some $900 million in the sector. This amount includes investments in such projects as program to increase hydrocarbon production, construction of a gas chemical plant, and expansion of production capacity of Shurtan Gas Chemical Complex.

At the same time, Gazprombank is ready to expand cooperation, financing "Exploration and development of the field "25 years of independence" project with the construction of gas chemical complex in Surxondaryo Region of Uzbekistan.

The Uzbek and Russian sides intend to consider expanding cooperation in all areas of energy sector.
