BAKU, Azerbaijan, Jan.21

By Leman Zeynalova – Trend:

The volume of gas transportation via the Trans Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) has to date reached approximately 9.1 billion cubic meters, Trend quoted Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Fatih Donmez as saying.

He noted that as of 2020 alone, TANAP transported 4.9 billion cubic meters of gas.

“TANAP has made a significant contribution to secure natural gas supplies to Turkey and became a key element of ensuring security of transportation to Europe. In synergy with the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) the strategic importance of TANAP and Azerbaijani gas will even more increase,” said the minister.

Further, Donmez noted that Azerbaijan accounted for 24 percent of natural gas imports to Turkey in 2020.

The minister said that the work on Igdir-Nakhchivan gas pipeline is ongoing in full swing. “We aim to ensure uninterrupted and secure gas supplies to Nakhchivan”.
