By Leman Zeynalova – Trend:

Preparatory works are underway for building wind power plants in Azerbaijan’s Lachin and Kalbajar districts liberated from Armenian occupation, Head of Azerbaijan Renewable Energy Agency under the Ministry of Energy Tabriz Ammayev told Trend.

He noted that talks are going on with private investors in Kalbajar and Lachin, which have around 2 gigawatts of wind energy potential.

Ammayev went on to add that the liberated lands have around 7,200 megawatts of solar energy potential, the major part of which accounts for Gubadli, Jabrail and Fuzuli.

“Azerbaijan’s energy ministry signed an agreement with bp to build a solar power plant with capacity of 240 megawatts in Jabrail or Zangilan. Currently, feasibility study is underway, the location is being determined.”
