Oil&Gas Materials 15 August 2006 12:32 (UTC +04:00)

McDermott Caspian Contractors, Inc. (McDermott), a subsidiary of J. Ray McDermott, S.A., has been awarded additional work to an existing contract with Azerbaijan International Operating Company (AIOC), operated by BP, for the fabrication of compressor modules for the Compressor and Water Injection Platform (C&WP) and Central Azeri (CA) platforms, the company told Trend.

We are pleased to have the opportunity to further strengthen our working relations with AIOC and BP and to add to our backlog of projects in the Caspian, said Dan Houser, Vice President and General Manager, Caspian operations. This award highlights our established track record in offshore development in the region and reflects the confidence AIOC has shown in us. Although our remaining work in Azerbaijan is reducing as we complete the AIOC/BP projects, this award adds continuity to the latter part of the program.

The compressor modules will be fabricated for C&WP and a produced water treatment/flash gas compressor module will be fabricated for CA as a modification to existing facilities and as a part of Phase 3 development of AIOCs Azeri, Chirag and deepwater portion of the Gunashli fields in the Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian Sea.

The scope of work comprises fabrication, onshore assembly and completion, pre-commissioning and load-out of the modules for offshore installation on the C&WP and CA platforms. Fabrication is scheduled to commence in the last quarter of 2006 and will utilize the infrastructure, equipment and labor of Baku Deepwater Jacket Factory (BDJF) named after Heydar Aliyev in Baku.
