Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend , corr. S. Babayeva/ Azerbaijan experiences the increase in the number of IT companies. Yashar Hadjiyv, the Director of the Analytical Centre for Information Policy, Coordinator on International Project - GIPI (Global Internet Policy Initiative) for Azerbaijan, has said that some 500 IT comapnies are presently operating in Azerbaijan. It is just by 16 % more versus the numbr of IT companies registered in 2006.
"National companies and representative-partners of various large-scale foreign IT companies, operating in Azerbaijan have also included into this number," he said.
Today, Azerbaijan is widely using information and communication technologies, providing its contemporary schools and institutes of higher education with PCs. IT are being applied into business sphere and the system of governmental management. Works on introduction the programme on "E-Government" are actively carried out. Moreover, the State Programme on the development of the sphere of telecommunication and informational technologies - "E-Azerbaijan" is also under way.
