Chabahar Port to become Iran's third commercial hub

TEHRAN, Iran, July 10

Iranian Acting Industry, Mining, and Trade Minister Hossein Modares Khiabani called Chabahar port the third commercial hub of Iran due to its infrastructure, capacities and strategic position after Bandar Abbas and Bandar Emam Ports.

"Chabahar has a good opportunity for transit of goods, and all efforts should be made to increase its use,” Khiabani said at a meeting with the Sistan and Baluchestan Economic Working Group in Chabahar, Trend reports citing IRNA.

He then spoke on the factories operating in the province.

Referring to the opening of Tiss Rasak Cement Factory, he said that in addition to boosting production and employment, it will lead to boost cement exports to Pakistan.

Khiabani went on to point the mining capacity of Sistan and Baluchestan province.

"Trade, mining and industry in Sistan and Baluchestan each have significant potential,” he said. “We must make good effort to use these opportunities.”

He also pointed out that Chabahar port has the potential to re-export the discovering in mines of Afghanistan to other countries.
