Austria provided Uzbekistan Railways JSC with modern equipment for railway track facilities, Trend reports referring to the press service of Uzbekistan Railways.
Modern equipment was brought to Uzbekistan from Austria, designed for straightening the railway track in the longitudinal and transverse profile and straightening, as well as for compaction of ballast. The relevant equipment is used in the construction, repair and maintenance of the track.
The purchase of two specialized straightening, tamping and straightening machines of the DUOMATIC 08-32 brand was carried out jointly with the Austrian Plasser & Theurer in accordance with the Decree of the President of Uzbekistan as part of the implementation of Pap-Namangan-Andijan line project.
“The new equipment will ensure the stability of the track on straight and curved sections of the rails, which will allow organizing the smooth movement of trains,” deputy head of the Road Administration Muslim Ortikbayev said.
The driver's cab of the new technology is equipped with modern equipment, and the work is computerized and automated.
“It will take only two hours to bring one kilometer of the railway into line with the help of this equipment,” deputy head of the Track Facilities workshop Erkin Kenzhayev explained.
In addition, training of specialists and an increase in the qualification of employees of Uzbekistan Railways JSC were organized with the participation of engineers from Austria.
Currently, there are more than 20 units of such equipment in Uzbekistan, which is used for straightening railways in all regions of the country.
Today, the length of railways in Uzbekistan has reached 7,500 kilometers. The number of freight and passenger trains transported on these roads is increasing every year. Therefore, the first task facing the employees of the sector is to ensure traffic safety. In particular, in the current year alone, track facilities workers overhauled 250 kilometers of railway tracks, and carried out medium and lifting repairs for 170 kilometers.
Plasser & Theurer is an Austrian manufacturer of rail track maintenance and track-laying machines. It accounts for 6 percent of Austrian exports of the machinery and iron and steel construction industry.
