The Director General of transit operations in the Iranian transportation ministry announced that the issue of entering Iranian trucks into Iraqi territory has been raised during the meetings between the top officials of the two countries.

"Last week, the Iraqi Minister of Industry, as the Iraqi chairman of the Joint Economic Commission, held a meeting with the Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran, Mohammad Eslami, during which the issue of the possibility of Iranian trucks entering Iraqi territory was raised," Javad Hedayati, who heads transit operations in the Iranian transportation ministry, said, Trend reports citing Mehr News Agency

"This issue was one of our demands, but the Iraqi side does not allow our trucks to enter the country due to the coronavirus conditions," he said.

"Iraqi truck drivers have seized the opportunity of the increasing exports from Iran to Iraq (to replace the Iranian truck drivers)," he said adding that the Iraqi drivers will be unemployed if the Iraqi Government removes the rule for changing the drivers at the borders.
