Turkmenistan, Russia to open logistics center in Russian port

Turkmenistan and Russia agreed to open a logistics center for Turkmenistan in the port of Olya, located in the Astrakhan region of Russia, Trend reports with reference to Turkmen media.

The mentioned issue was discussed during the meeting of the Governor of the Astrakhan Region of Russia Igor Babushkin with the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers - co-chairman from Turkmenistan of the Intergovernmental Turkmen of the Russian Commission for Economic Cooperation Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

It was noted during the meeting that the logistics center will contribute to the growth of trade between Turkmenistan and the Astrakhan region.

The governor also suggested that the government of Turkmenistan consider the possibility of opening a direct flight on the route Astrakhan-Ashgabat after the lifting of restrictions related to COVID-19. According to Babushkin, this will contribute to the development of business and humanitarian contacts.

Turkmen FM, in turn, supported the decision to create a logistics center and stressed that in the coming days he would appoint a project coordinator from the Turkmen side. He also proposed holding the first joint detailed video conferencing discussion next week.
