BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 20. There is an increase in cargo shipment between Iran and Azerbaijan via the Caspian Sea, Managing Director of Iran’s Khazar Sea Shipping Lines Company Davood Tafti told Trend.

The director noted that cargo shipments between Iran and Azerbaijan via the Caspian Sea amounted to about 4,530 tons for the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022).

“The figure stood at 1,089 tons in the preceding Iranian year (March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021),” he added.

According to Tafti, the shipped goods were mainly portable galvanized metal sheets and polyethylene items, wood materials, etc.

The official also said that there was an increase in cargo shipments between the two countries via Caspian Sea for the first two months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through May 21, 2022).

Tafti stressed that the cargo is mainly transported between the Iranian ports of Astara and Amirabad and the Azerbaijani ports of Hovsan and Alat.
