BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 29. Iran imported four Airbus-340 passenger planes in recent days, Deputy Chairman of the Iranian Civil Aviation Organization (CAO), Hassan Khoshkhu told ISNA, Trend reports.
Khoshkhu noted that imported passenger planes are made in France.
The official did not give any information about which country the passenger planes were imported from, at what price, and whether the planes were new or used.
İn November 2022, Iranian Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development and the head of the Iranian Civil Aviation Organization (CAO), Mohammad Mohammadibakhsh said that Iran had imported a number of passenger planes and helicopters in the last 15 months, but he would not disclose the numbers.
On May 8, 2018, following the withdrawal of the US from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) between Iran and the 5+1 group (Russia, China, the UK, France, the US, and Germany) regarding Iran's nuclear program, the United States Department of the Treasury announced that Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) canceled the licenses related to the sale of passenger planes to Iran.
The OFAC, which operates under the US Treasury Department, oversees the sale of US-made equipment to sanctioned countries.
