( ArmInfo ) - The deployment of US bases in the South Caucasus will result in new dividing lines, which will hardly contribute to regional security, Armenian Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan said today during a joint press-conference with Russian First Premier Sergey Ivanov.

The reduction of Russia's military presence in the region must not lead to automatic military expansion of any other ountry or organization, Sargsyan said.

Ivanov pointed out that the Russian military base in Armenia poses n threat to third countries but effectively ensures the security of Armenia and Russia.
