Baku, Azerbaijan, Feb. 6

By Rufiz Hafizoglu – Trend:

The military Operation Olive Branch in Syria’s Afrin is a compelling necessity, the Turkish media cited leader of the Nationalist Movement Party Devlet Bahceli as saying Feb. 6.

Bahceli added that as a country that was regularly subjected to terrorist attacks by Syria, Turkey has every right to ensure the security of its borders.

"Operation Olive Branch is not the occupation of Syrian territory, but cleansing from terrorists," Bahcheli said.

On Jan. 20, the Turkish Armed Forces, together with the Free Syrian Army, launched the Operation Olive Branch in Afrin, Syria.

F-16 fighters of the Turkish Air Force are involved in the operation, inflicting strikes on the positions of PYD/YPG on the Syrian-Turkish border.
