The group of media representatives visited a military unit of the Interior Troops in Sumgait.

The visit targeted to get familiarization with service conditions of soldiers. The commander of the military unit Javad Rzayev told media representatives the history of the military unit and battle experience. The military unit was established in 1989 as a police battalion of the Internal Troops and in 1992 reformed to a military unit. 472 soldiers of the military unit participated in the battles for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan March 12, 1992 in Agdam, Fizuli and Beylagan regions, in which 21 of them died and three were missing, the commander said.

136 soldiers of the military unit were awarded for a deserved performance of duty, but 12 soldiers were penalized for drawbacks committed during the execution of duty in 2009.

According to the commander, morale of military personnel is satisfactory.

Then the journalists got acquainted with the living conditions of soldiers and walked through the territory of military unit, visited the modern army barracks, kitchen and aid post. Ten patients can be treated in the aid post.

The necessary conditions for first aid were created. Planned reception of patients in the aid post is implemented timely but urgent care is provided 24 hours a day.

Manual labor is minimized in the laundry. Special equipments for washing, drying and ironing were installed here. The military unit is equipped with central heating system. There is also a hairdressing salon, dressmaking and tailoring establishment, and bath.

Journalists, who visited the military unit, had lunch with the soldiers.
