The UK expressed interest in strengthening cooperation between the business circles of the two countries, including the participation of UK's companies in joint projects, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The discussions were held during the Turkmen-British trade-economic meeting in the videoconference format on November 13, 2020.
In particular, the parties discussed issues of trade, economic, and financial cooperation in various sectors of the economy, as well as opportunities to strengthen business cooperation.
Trade proposals for developing and increasing trade turnover between the two countries were also discussed.
At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed confidence that the exchange of views will give a new impetus to the development of the dialogue between the two countries in the economic sphere.
As earlier a foreign office spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the UK told Trend, Turkmenistan and the United Kingdom have established new ties in sectors such as the creative economy.
The spokesperson pointed out that the new ties were established despite the global challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic.
Generally, the UK continues to work with Turkmenistan in a number of areas such as energy, education, agriculture, and finance.
The main Turkmen sectors of interest to the United Kingdom investors are oil, gas, and chemicals. Also, the sides have a number of ongoing projects in particular in agricultural technology and the energy sectors.
