Turkmenistan, UNDP to launch new joint project

Turkmenistan and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) will launch a new "Strengthening the institutional, statistical and information technology capacity of the State Committee of Turkmenistan on Statistics", Trend reports with reference to the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.

The issues on the launch of a new joint project were discussed during an online meeting with representatives of the UNDP in Turkmenistan on January 20, 2020.

Joint work is planned within the framework of the new project to further strengthen the information and technical potential of Turkmenistan, the conceptual transition to the SNA-2008 methodology, as well as to improve knowledge in the field of statistical reporting for measuring the SDGs.

The project will continue the development and installation of software for the statistical business register, which will allow applying a systematic approach to implementing digital solutions to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the process of collecting, processing, and analyzing data.

The main task of the State Statistics Committee of Turkmenistan is to improve the statistical methodology in accordance with international standards.

The UNDP program in Turkmenistan promotes innovative agricultural practices in the country.

Earlier, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment Protection of Turkmenistan and the UNDP signed an agreement on the project "Sustainable Cities in Turkmenistan: Integrated Green Urban Development in Ashgabat and Awaza ".

The goal of this project is to widely use "green" technologies in construction, promote ecotourism, as well as waste management, recycling, and recycling.
