BAKU, Azerbaijan, Jan. 24

By Nargiz Ismayilova - Trend:

Data Processing Center of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies is testing innovative SmartCell online system for selling mobile phone numbers, Babek Mahmudov, the head of center’s public relations department, told Trend.

“SmartCell combines facial recognition (Face ID) and electronic signature technologies. It is also a digital numbering system that sells mobile numbers with Face ID technology. The system allows authenticating a real-time photo in front of customer as an identity card, signing a subscription contract electronically, as well as provides real-time access to data,” Mahmudov said.

He added that the system gives the client such advantages as preventing registration of a number without his knowledge and presence, saving time, an electronic contract and an electronic signature.

In the meantime, the system plans to establish cooperation with all existing mobile operators.

“Currently, technical work is being completed and tests are being carried out in this area. Information about the test results will be known once they're finished,” Mahmudov said.

Within the framework of the Bakutel-2019 exhibition, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the mobile operator Azercell and the Information and Computing Center of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies for the implementation of the SmartCell system.
