Co-chairs of OSCE Minsk Group - Yuri Merzlyakov from Russia, Bernard Fassier from France and Robert Bradke from the U.S. held talks in Paris with Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian, the OSCE said.

Co-Chairs of OSCE Minsk Group met with Edward Nalbandian in Paris March 16, where they held a working meeting, the report said.

During the negotiations, comments of the Armenian side on the final wordings of the basic principles submitted by the co-chairs for the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict were discussed.

"The talks were held in a constructive spirit. They will continue during the forthcoming visit of the co-chairs to Yerevan and Nagorno-Karabakh", the statement said.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Armenian armed forces have occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan since 1992, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and 7 surrounding districts. Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994.

The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group - Russia, France, and the U.S. - are currently holding the peace negotiations.
