OSCE Parliamentary Assembly President Joao Soares turned down the Georgian opposition's request to send observers to the local elections, Kartuli Dassy leader Jondi Bagaturia told journalists.

According to the OSCE head, the opposition was so united in bringing forward this issue that talks concerning the arrival of observers will continue in the future.

"The presence of the OSCE mission in Georgia is important for us, as the country must now live online and constantly be in the spotlight of the international community," Bagaturia added.

He said that during the meeting with Soares, they mulled media freedom, judicial independence and democratic processes.
