The Azerbaijani Parliament approved the report on the activity of the government in 2009 by 100 votes in favor and 8 against today. Earlier, submitting the report of the government to the parliament, Prime Minister Artur Rasizade said that, despite the global financial and economic crisis, last year Azerbaijan maintained macroeconomic stability, achieved real growth and prosperity of the country's population.
According to him, oil production exceeded 50 million tons increasing by 14 percent in 2009 compared to 2008 for the first time in the history of Azerbaijan. Gas production increased to 21.6 billion cubic meters. It increased by 300 million cubic meters compared to 2008.
As a result of diversification of Azerbaijan's economy, growth of non-oil sector of the country was demonstrated, Rasizade said.
During the reporting period, real GDP growth was 9.3 percent by reaching 34.6 billion manat, in non-oil sector - 3.2 percent. Inflation fell to 1.5 percent.
