Uzbekistan’s share accounted for 82 percent of the cement exported by Iran over the seven months of this Iranian year (started March 21, 2018), Mohammad Hadi Ziaei, director general of Iran’s Khorasan Railways, said in an interview with IRNA.

He said that 247,000 tons of cement were exported by rail to Central Asia during this period, adding that 227,000 tons of this volume were exported to Uzbekistan.

He noted that the export of this product increased by 243 percent, and the main reason for this was the increase in construction projects in Uzbekistan and the need for cement.

He added that 1,254 tons of export, import and transit products have been exchanged in 21,000 wagons between the Central Asian countries and the Sarakhs border railway terminal in Iran in the first half of this year.

He noted that 26 percent of this figure is related to export, and cement accounts for 60 percent of exports.
