Iran and Qatar to cooperate in energy sector

TEHRAN, Iran, Nov.15

Iran and Qatar to have cooperation in the field of energy that would include renewable energies and water treatment, said Minister of Energy.

"Iran and Qatar energy ministry would jointly establish a center in Iran for water sweetening to help both countries and other regional countries while there are discussions for more water and power plans," said Reza Ardakanian, Trend reports citing ISNA.

"Good decisions were made during visiting Qatari officials and Iran to host a joint commission meeting next week to discuss cooperation. There has been good progress in renewable energy that requires investment to export energy and it would attract foreign investments," he added.

According to Ardakanian, more than 190 domestic companies have participated in the implementation of water transportation projects from the Persian Gulf to the central plateau in Iran. Furthermore, the following project is done by the private sector investment and cooperation of the Ministry of Industries, Mine and Trade that would sustain life in the central plateau

"The government is expected to operate 250 mega projects in water, power and sewage sectors by the end of the current Iranian year(started March 20, 2020) with $11.9 billion investment," he noted.

He went on to say that so far seven storage dams, eight water irrigation networks, four big water treatment plants, seven large wastewater treatment plants, nine thermal power plants, 13 renewable energy plants, five small power plants completed, and 33 power transmission posts were installed while water transported to 448 villages and seven cities.
